Tan Sri Dato' David Chiu is the Chairman of Far East Group.  He has over 45 years’ experiences in property and hotel development. He owns and operates several listed companies in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Japan, including ICable which is a broadband infrastructure and media company based in Hong Kong. He is the founder and the Chairman of Malaysia Land Properties, someoftheFar East Groupcompaniesinclusive of the listed companies (P) Far East Consortium International Ltd. (P), Dorsett Hospitality International, the Chairman of the board of Director of AGORA Hospitality Group Co., Ltd.(P), the largest shareholder of Land & General (L&G) (P), the Chairman of i-CABLE Communications Limited (P) and Far East Organization (International) Limited.

The Far East Group has an annual turnover of approximately US$4 billion in 2019.  It operates in 7 different countries and on a worldwide basis the group has 8,000 employees altogether.

Far East Consortium International Limited has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 1972. The Group is mainly engaged in property development and investment, hotel operations and management, car park operations and facilities management, securities and financial product investment, and gaming operations. The annual turnover is HK$7 billion.

Dorsett Hospitality International is one of the fastest growing hotel groups in Asia Pacific and one of the largest 3/4-star hotel groups in Hong Kong. It owns and manages 43 hotels in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and Australia and has 15 hotels in the development pipeline. Dorsett opened its first hotel Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in 1998 and now owns and operates 9 hotels and 2,384 rooms in Malaysia. When all the hotels in the pipeline become operational, FEC will own 43 hotels operating approximately 10,700 rooms.

ICable is a broadband infrastructure and media company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.  The company owns one of the 4 core broadband networks in Hong Kong and has a cooperation agreement with China Mobile to develop telecom infrastructure in Hong Kong.  The business employs over 1200 employees.  The operation is highly synergistic with data centre business.

Malaysia Land Properties Sdn Bhd (Mayland) is recognized as the leading private developer with a truly diversified portfolio of developments including serviced apartments, condominiums, shop lots/office buildings, hotels, shopping malls and car parks in Malaysia. It is one of the largest serviced apartment developers in Malaysia and has significant developments in prime areas such as Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya and Johor, with an annual capacity to deliver up approximately 5,000 to 10,000 homes. It has a considerable land bank of more than 500 acres and is expected to launch flagship projects in several prestigious addresses in Kuala Lumpur. With over 3,000 affordable luxury and high-end residences in the pipeline, the group is expecting a GDV exceeding RM 3billion in the next two years.

AGORA Hospitality Group Co., Ltd, listed on the 1st section of Tokyo Stock Exchange, currently owns, operate and manage 12 existing and pipeline hotels with a total of over 1,600 rooms throughout 7 major cities in Japan, including Agora-3 branded hotels in Tokyo, Osaka, Shizuoka (Izu), Fukuoka, Saga, Kanazawa and Kyoto, from full service to limited service hotel, resort to traditional ryokan that assures a unique and local experience of Japan.

Honour Received

Tan Sri Dato’ David Chiu was awarded honorary titles of “Dato” and “Tan Sri” by His Majesty, King of Malaysia in 1997 and 2005 respectively. He was also awarded the WCEF Lifetime Achievement Awards by Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute in 2013, the “Best Executive in Hong Kong” in the “2016 Asiamoney Best Managed Company Award”, the FinanceAsia's “Best” in 2017 & FinanceAsia'sBest CEO in Hong Kong” in 2018 & 2019, “Asia’s Best CEO in Investor Relations” at “Asian Excellence Award 2018 & 2019”, the “Best IR by Chairman/CEO” in “3rd & 5thInvestor Relations Awards” in 2017& 2019.

Community Services

In regard to Tan Sri Dato’ David CHIU’s devotion to community services in China and Hong Kong, he was appointed as the member of the 12th and 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conferences, the vice chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce in 2017. Currently, he is a trustee member of The Better Hong KongFoundation, an honorary chairman of Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration-People and Forces’ Committee, a director and a member of Concerted Efforts Resource Centre, a patron of China-United States Exchange Foundation, an honorary chairman of Guangdong Chamber of Foreign Investors, an honorary chairman of the Association of Chinese Culture of Hong Kong, the 8th board member of Friends of Hong Kong Association, a member of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Constitutional Reform Synergy, a member of The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong, a member of Pacific Basin Economic Council, a director of three JuChing Chu Schools in Hong Kong and the vice chairman of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Radio and Television Union.
